Welcome to the 40th Anniversary Concert

Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to our evening of music.

Bon soir mesdames et messieurs. Je vous souhaite a notre soiree musicale.

This feels a little like the introduction to the Eurovision Song Contest

C’est comme le concours pour un chanson de l’Europe. Je m’excuse encore mon francais mauvais.

The plans for this evening were first discussed over a glass of wine – as you do - over two years ago.

Il y a plus de deux ans quand nous avons discusse avec un verre du vin – naturellement, cette spectacle.

We were with our dear friend Colette Jourdain who sadly died last year.

Nous sommes a la maison de notre chere amie Colette Jourdan, qui tristement a mort l’annee dernier.

I hope you will enjoy this concert which is dedicated to her.

J’espere que vous aimez cette spectacle a sa memoire.

I would like to introduce Thierry Delalee, a former Chairman of the Pierrefitte Twinning who would like to say a few words about Colette.

Je vous present Thierry Delalee, le dernier President du jumelage de Pierrefitte. Il veux dire quelque mots de Colette.

I hope that you have enjoyed our concert with such a wide range of musical content.

J’espere que vous avez aime beacoup notre spectacle avec la musique divers.

Like the Oscars, I have a long list of people to thank for their help with this evening.

Comme la ceremonie pour les Oscars, j’ai une liste de presonnes tres longue qui je dois remercier pour leurs aide avec les arrangements de cette soiree.

But unlike the stars I am not going to try to name them all.

Mais je ne suis pas une celebre et je ne peux pas essayer de dire tous les noms.

My special thanks go to all three choirs and their musical directors, Elisabeth, David and David, for working so hard for this concert.

Mes remerciements speciales vont aux tres choeurs et leurs directeurs de musique, Elisabeth, David et David pour tous leurs travail dur pour cette spectacle.

I would like to thank my brother-in-law, Graham, for arranging the music and my sister, Eleanor, for the words of our “Entente Musicale”.

Je remercie mon beau-frere, Graham, pour la musique et ma soeur, Eleanor, pour les mots de notre “Entente Musicale”

My thanks go also to all those who have opened up their homes to our French friends this weekend. This is the spirit of twinning.

Mes remerciements vont aussi aux familes d’acceuil qui ont ouvert leurs maisons ce weekend pour nos amis francais. C’est l’esprit du jumelage.

And finally, I would like to thank my husband Ken for having put up with me over the last few months and keeping me from having a nervous breakdown.
